— Welcome —

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, pull up a chair, and make yourself comfortable. My name is Stephanie and this is my little corner of the internet. I’m mom to two mostly grown, always homeschooled, sons.

I don’t have a brand nor am I trying to develop one. I started this blog over 10 years ago as a place to document our homeschool journey. Along the way I found it to be a wonderful outlet for exploring my thoughts. So now as I’m transitioning out of active homeschooling, I get to figure out where I want my life (and this blog!) to go next.

— The Desire to Understand
(and to be Understood) —

I'm coming to believe that it is a desire to understand, both ourselves and others, which is the key to making this world a better place.

It is as simple as this—if we have a desire to understand, we can get curious rather than simply place blame. This attitude can have a transformative effect from our most personal relationship with ourself, to our relationship with our children and other family members, to making better sense of the larger world in which we live.

“Learning can only happen when a child is interested. If he’s not interested, it’s like throwing marshmallows at his head and calling it eating.”
