Welcome!

I am a liberal-minded homeschool mom who is constantly trying to find that elusive state of balance in my life while enjoying my two energetic, yet vastly different boys.

Our wisdom is all mixed up with what we call our neurosis. Our brilliance, our juiciness, our spiciness, is all mixed up with our craziness and our confusion, therefore it doesn’t do any good to try to get rid of our so-called negative aspects, because in that process we also get rid of our basic wonderfulness.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 2009

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! Sorry posts have been a little sporadic. That happens from time to time, especially around the holidays, but please keep coming back.

I thought that I would pass on a link to this post from the PBS kid lit blog Booklights: Wish Lists. Susan has pulled together a great “list of book lists” with tons of helpful suggestions for books for kids of all ages.

And can I mention what an incredibly wonderful, absolutely fantastic place my public library is? As I was going through these lists, I kept bouncing over to my library’s catalog and placing all kinds of interesting books on hold. And when they reopen after the holiday, I will be able to go in and check them out…for free! Really, how neat is that? I think it can be easy to take the library for granted sometimes, but if you think about it, it really is such a neat concept.

Of course I always wind up finding books that I really, really…yes, really, need to own. My bookshelves attest to that. But I would never be able to afford to buy all the books that I want to read, so for the library, I am eternally thankful.
